As the Sette 270W gets into the hands of more coffee enthusiasts, Baratza Support is aware of some users encountering an issue with dose accuracy. This seems to happen primarily when grinding directly into a portafilter and the grinder under doses by VARIABLE amounts (generally >1 gram). The 270W scale is sensitive to vibration and rocking motions so it’s always important that the grinder be placed on a flat, sturdy surface, and sit firmly with all feet resting on the counter, during operation.
To minimize this accuracy issue, we have developed a new set of feet for the grinder that are softer and do a far superior job of dampening vibration that causes scale issues such as inaccuracy, multiple tare cycles and brief run times. If the grind weight of your 270W is inaccurate by varying amounts, or if the motor powers off after grinding only a fraction of the required dose, please email a request to firstname.lastname@example.org for replacement feet. We will send them to you free of charge. The feet only take a few seconds to install.
If the grinder still has under dosing issues. It is important to check that the portafilter hook is secure. Follow this video here for correct Hook adjustment.
If you purchased your 270W grinder outside of North America, please contact the retailer you purchased from with a request for the new feet.
PS – If dosage is consistently incorrect by a SPECIFIC amount (generally ± 1 gram), the offset needs adjustment. Please follow these instructions:
- Unplug the grinder
- Plug in the grinder
- The display will read “8.0..” then being cycling up, press and hold both UP and DOWN buttons
- The screen will flash ‘ofs’ then you can let go of the buttons. A number will be displayed
- For espresso grinding we recommend an offset of ~1.1, coarse grinding we recommend ~2.0
- To change the offset press UP to increase it or DOWN to decrease
- Press play to lock in the change
